The UQ School of Dentistry made a pronounced impact at the 2018 International Association for Dental Research (IADR) General Session in London recently. Professor Wagner Marcenes, professor of oral epidemiology at Queen Mary, University of London, led a team of researchers in discovering the startling statistic that over half of the world's population -- 3.9 billion people -- suffers from major untreated dental problems. The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) recently published a systemic analysis in the Journal of Dental Research. Authored by Wagner Marcenes, King’s College London Dental Institute, “Global Burden of Oral Conditions in 1990-2015: A Systemic Analysis” examines data to assess progress toward the Federation Dental International (FDI), World Health Untreated tooth decay is affecting billions of people according to research published in the Journal of Dental Research.
